Retreat Hiatus

in the long and winding road that is the creative journey.....

it seems that it is time for me to take a break from retreat planning...

i would be lying if i said that i wasn't sad about this.... because quite frankly i have loved every minute of doing it

but apparently the time is not right for another retreat...

so i must accept.... and move on

who knows what the future will bring??

Alone & Together - Coming April 10 - 12!!

ALONE
we contemplate all that is around us,
 reflect on our experiences
and dig deeply into ouselves
for that which needs to be expressed.

TOGETHER
we share that which has been unearthed,
provide support to one other
and learn in new and profound ways.

this retreat will be about weaving alone times and together times
 in ways that will nurture
forming stimulating new patterns
and resulting in yet-to-be-discovered collaborative outcomes.

it’s going to be exciting…
i hope you will join us!!!

there will be a little of everything….

poetry
hiking

Sneak Peek!!

there is a space
that beckons you….
free of worry, care, responsibility
a space in which
the whole of you is welcomed
embraced, encouraged
a space where
 no pretense is needed
no mask required
you are free to dream
to share, to create
to laugh, to learn, to love...

when you reach
the far side of this space
and reluctantly
leave it behind
you will find
that a little piece of it
snuck into your suitcase
a glowing talisman
to remind you
that something has shifted
and you are not the same
and never will be
i know
because it has happened to me
each time i visit
the SPACE BETWEEN

lots of ideas swirling around in my head for a spring retreat….i’m loving the “alone & together” theme and the idea of us putting together a collaborative presentation involving images and words at the retreat.  also maybe a releasing bonfire (either indoors or out) that we prepare for alone but execute together.

i would like to try a mid-week retreat and have tentatively scheduled APRIL 3-5 but if that presents a problem i realize i may have to switch to a weekend.  just testing the waters....

i would really like to accommodate women who would love to attend but are not able to for financial reasons.  if this is you, PLEASE contact me and maybe we can work something out with job discounts or trades of some sort.

more details to follow....
would love to know if you are interested
(no commitment required at this time!)

Thoughts for 2012

as the new year approaches… i have been thinking about some new retreat ideas and wanted to share.

i would love to figure out a way to offer a free retreat for those who could truly benefit but could never afford it….i’ve been mulling over this idea for a while… it’s going to  take some research!!  if i can figure out how to fund it, i could take applications and offer the spots to the most deserving applicants.  any ideas??

i was thinking it would be fun to have a choice of classes available to meet different needs.  i feel comfortable teaching altered photos, contemplative photography, art journaling, transfers, soul collage and art collage and i have friends who could provide other choices.  hmmmm…..

i like the idea of collaborating on a presentation.  each participant, through the use of homework and prompts would share some personal words and images which i could combine into a collaborative presentation to be shared at the conclusion of the retreat.  could be powerful…. and fun!!

last week’s solstice emphasis on releasing got me thinking that it would be fun to have such a ceremony around a bonfire with the group.  the upper meadow lodge has a special area set aside for bonfires that we haven’t yet utilized.

my word of the year has been “imagine” and i was thinking it might make a fun retreat theme.

i’ve also thought about “alone and together” as a theme.

i’d love to bring some native american influences into the retreat planning.

just some thoughts….. always open to suggestion!!

More than the Sum of the Parts

bringing women together is a good thing in and of itself.  but when you take a group of women who are actively seeking to nurture their creative instincts…. then throw in a fabulous mountain lodge and a rare fall snowstorm….. well, some amazing things can happen!

creative sparks start to fly
seeds are planted
ideas unfold
new relationships are formed
secrets are shared in a safe place
there is an opportunity to breathe deeply and soak in the surroundings

i feel incredibly blessed to have been able to witness all of these things and many more this past weekend at the space between 4 retreat: creative practice. each of the women had something unique and beautiful to contribute.  and when that happens, something magical occurs and you end up with a result that is far more than the sum of the parts.

(see pics from the snowstorm here.)
